• A Turk Scholarship is awarded on a completely non-discriminatory basis without any barriers due to gender, religion, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin or disability.

  • Each scholarship will be awarded for up to $10,000 for the initial year of post high school study.

  • Up to 20 scholarships will be awarded each year.

  • Applicants must either be graduating from high school or have graduated in the last 5 years and not attended a post high school educational institution.

  • Scholarships are granted after careful consideration is given to many different criteria (see application). However, all applicants must demonstrate a financial need to be eligible for a Turk Scholarship.

  • All courses of study must occur at an accredited not-for-profit two-year or four-year college in the United States or at a technical or vocational school that is fully licensed and/or accredited by the U.S. Department of Education. Internet, correspondence learning programs and for profit colleges will not be considered.

  • Applicants must be citizens or legal residents of the United States.

  • Applicants who have not served in the military must be at least two-year residents of San Diego County. Former military applicants must have lived in San Diego County for two successive years out of the past five and be a one year resident upon the receipt of a scholarship award.

  • Scholarships are granted for the initial year of college, technical school or vocational school, without any commitment for any future financial assistance. However, scholarship recipients can apply in the future for financial assistance for additional educational years. Graduate study will not be considered.

  • Scholarship funds are available for:

    • Tuition, fees, books, and supplies (paper, notebooks, etc.)
    • Room and board
  • Scholarship funds are not available for:

    • Previous expenditures or repayment of loans
    • Purchase of equipment
    • Insurance of any kind
    • Travel expenses to or from school from San Diego County
    • Moving expenses
  • Applications may be submitted at anytime, however applications must be submitted no later than March 1, 2017.

  • Applications are to be completed and, together with all required attachments, submitted on-line at www.turkscholarship.org.

Turk Scholarship Criteria
